Tárgy: [Exim] Exim's job ?
Hello !

I must ask what is maybe a stupid question, but at least it looks like a
simple one :-) I do have tried to make sense of the FAQ and the
archives, but could not come up with a satisfactory answer. This has
been driving me nuts for the whole week-end...

I have installed Exim on a server (Debian Woody) which should handle all
the mail for a few people. It works almost fine:

* Local delivery is perfect, one can send and read mail on the local
host.

* Outgoing mail is fine, too: any local user of the server can send mail
anywhere.

* Incoming mail from other servers is received, no problem here.

* I have also installed teapop so that users can retrieve their mail
when they are away: it works fine.

The only problem is: when users are away, the mail they send is not
delivered. To be more specific, here is the setting I am trying to get
to work. The server is, say, domain.fr (Exim, Debian) . I am currently
working from another host, say, home.fr (Windows) from which I have an
internet connexion. I can retrieve my mail deposited on domain.fr from
home.fr (teapop). I write mail from home.fr and I have configured my
email program to send it to domain.fr for local delivery or relaying.

Problem is: the mail written at home.fr is never delivered.

The connexion is accepted, though (I have set relay_domains to
domain.fr:home.fr). It's just that nothing happens, whether the mail is
destined to seb@??? (local delivery, from the point of view of the
server) or seb@??? . Just to check if there was some kind of
interference, I have tried setting relay_domains and host_accept_relay
to '*', and bringing down the firewall: to no avail.

'mailq' does not mention the hundreds of mails I tried to send.

So I'm wondering: it is really Exim's job to receive the mail sent from
home.fr ? If it is, what should I activate that I did not think of ? If
it is not, would a kind soul tell me what program I should install ?

Thanks for any help !
Seb.
