thx for your reply.
i just had a closer look at the debug output and noticed that exim
tried to do tls but the server always replied that tls is currently not
available (but advertised!). so i put the server into hosts_avoid_tls
and everything is fine!
except that i am able to get auth plain working only and not auth login
but as long the servers accept plain i am fine.
