If you have a test machine, or if you can disable normal email operation
while testing, I suggest the following procedure:
Turn off the Exim and MailScanner daemons.
Inject a message as usual, and note the contents of the -H file in the
incoming Exim spool.
Run MailScanner in debugging mode to scan the message and transfer it
to the main Exim queue.
Check that the scanned -H file is sane, compared to the incoming
message you noted earlier.
Run exim in debugging mode to get a detailed report of delivery
of the test message.
