Subject: [Exim] Email Archiving
Please forgive me if this is slightly off topic, as it does not directly
relate to exim. But this list is the best forum of email managers I have
come across. Please reply directly to me in order not to flood the list
with unwanted emails. If there are enough people interested I will set
up a separate list.

We (Loughborough University) have successfully bid for funding for a
pilot project into email archiving. We are trying to find out what other
sites do currently on this issue. The two main points are:

What happens to email when a user leaves. We currently have the
situation where a member of staff may have a lot of important email in
their account pertaining to the role they fill within the University. If
that user leaves then 90 days later their account is deleted and all
that important historical record of their work is lost.

If you just archive their account what do you do with all their private
emails that are mixed in with the organisational ones.

How do you identify important email that needs to be archived?

Our pilot project is just look into issues at the moment, there is not
sufficient funding for a full blown project. But we would be very
interested to find out what other people are doing in this area.

Ron
