I'm certainly not a fetchmail expert (IANAFE? =)), but I have it set up on
a personal machine and it re-injects msgs w/ the same envelope info used
to deliver it on the server you're getting it from. So if whatever
delivered it to your pop server allowed <root> as a sender, fetchmail will
re-inject it w/ the same sender.
