Subject: RE: [Exim] Help with accepting underscore in FROM:
Sorry for the newbie question, but that's what I am :)

Anyway, I already had read the fine manual and already had put:
helo_allow_chars = _ in exim's MAIN CONFIGURATION SETTINGS. And this
allows the following:

220 xxxx.xx.xxx ESMTP Exim 4.14 Thu, 17 Apr 2003 11:53:49 -0400
helo test_host.domain.com
250 xxxx.xxx.xxx Hello test_host.domain.com [xx.x.xx.xx]

Whereas before I added helo_allow_chars = _ , I would get:

220 xxx.xxx.xxxx ESMTP Exim 4.12 Thu, 17 Apr 2003 11:56:08 -0400
helo test_host.domain.com
501 Syntactically invalid HELO argument(s)

But even with helo_allow_chars = _ , I still get the following:

220 xx.xx.xx ESMTP Exim 4.12 Thu, 17 Apr 2003 11:58:33 -0400
helo test_host.domain.com
250 mail.crownofmaine.net Hello xx.xx.xx [xx.xx.xx.xx]
mail from: test@test_host.domain.com
501 test@test_host.domain.com: malformed address: _host.domain.com may not
follow test@test

I've looked thru the list archives and the manuals/faqs but haven't found
anything. I've also complained to the mail admin responsible for
test_host.domain.com but thus far they haven't changed the name.

Thanks again for the help.

Jeff
