I'm setting up a second FreeBSD (4.7R) machine, running Exim3.36,
mailscanner3.04-1 and mcafee anti-virus. I have done this on at least two
other boxes, but this one is causing me grief!
In the /var/spool/exim/input directory, if I send a message out from the
box, it writes the "H" (header) file part of the message as owned by root,
instead of mailnull. The message body file is properly owned by mailnull.
I've checked both exim configure files, and mailscanner.conf, and
everything appears to be user=mailnull and group=mail. I ran mailscanner
in debug mode but no messages appeared.
I built exim from ports (/mail/exim-old) and just edited the Makefile so
it would use mysql (I use version 3.36 as I also use vmail-sql and
tpop3d).
Mailscanner I just untar'd and installed manually.
Mcafee came from ports as well.
It's gotta be either exim or mailscanner causing the "root" owner. How do
I tell for sure? Anybody have any hot tips?
I'll see you in the morning... and thanks!
