Subject: [Exim] SMTP protocol error in "DATA"
The following log on the mail server (smarthost) indicates the problem as

-----------------
2003-03-25 12:30:45 SMTP connection from webct-tyg1.sun.ac.za [146.232.197.237]
(TCP/IP connection count = 9)
2003-03-25 12:30:45 H=webct-tyg1.sun.ac.za (webct-tyg1) [146.232.197.237] F=<root@webct-tyg1> rejected RCPT <jspies@???>
2003-03-25 12:30:45 SMTP protocol error in "DATA" H=webct-tyg1.sun.ac.za (webct-tyg1) [146.232.197.237] valid RCPT command must precede DATA
2003-03-25 12:30:45 SMTP connection from webct-tyg1.sun.ac.za (webct-tyg1) [146.232.197.237] closed by QUIT

The configuration file on the sending machine:
--------------

---------------------

In the server's exim.conf:
----------------------------------
domainlist relay_domains = *sun.ac.za :
dbm;/etc/exim/relaydomains.db
hostlist relay_from_hosts = 146.232.0.0/16 : 192.168.0.0/24 :
127.0.0.1
-----------------------------------

So I figure it can't be a relaydomain problem.

I would appreciate some help on solving this problem.
