just FYI, there's an ISO standard date format presented here:

succinctly described by www.ntk.net as:

"The YYYY-MM-DD format is trivial for computers to
order chronologically, has no ambiguous variants, and, in
common with all the best standards, has no precedent in
established practice anywhere in the world."
