I'm not surprised, I am new to EXIM and I am trying "figure out" what it's
doing and why and trying to make sure I don't have something screwed up.

At a guess, that a temporary failure occured when it tried to do a sender
callout verify check on inv@???. This is not surprising because when
I try and do that check I get operation timed out.

| $ adnshost -t mx joefuzz.com
| joefuzz.com has no MX record
| $ adnshost -t a joefuzz.com
| joefuzz.com A 66.216.68.51
| $ telnet 66.216.68.51 25
| Trying 66.216.68.51...

You've configured your machine to do sender verify callouts, so it's going
to do them. Why are you surprised?
