Autor: Kevin P. Fleming Datum: To: Exim-users Betreff: [Exim] AOL X-Mailer Filtering Change
In the last 36 hours or so, we've started receiving messages (legitimate) from
AOL users with X-Mailer headers as follows:
X-Mailer: 7.0 for Windows sub xxxxx
X-Mailer: 8.0 for Windows sub xxxxx
These headers _used_ to start with "AOL" before the version number. In fact,
we've gotten multiple messages from a single user, sent over the span of an
hour, some with "AOL" in the X-Mailer and some without. All the messages were
sent from the same client computer using the same AOL client software.
So, it appears that either AOL has some sort of problem with one or more of
their outbound mail servers, or they have changed their SMTP remailing software
to not include the "AOL" designation in the X-Mailer header (and only made that
change on _some_ of their outbound servers).
I'm going to change my AOL forgery filter to allow ".0 for Windows" as a valid
AOL X-Mailer, I suggest others look into doing the same.
