the short answer is lookup the fine manual (specs) for SMTP AUTH.
You can also lookup those term in the list archive.
Another "solution" is POP before SMTP, it would be better called a
kludge, but it provides adequate antirelay safety.
Sorry if this might appear a bit harsh, but I do not like people not
