A lot of older unix distros (solaris and such) do stick sendmail in
there - or used to till lately.
Backwards compatiblity shall we say.
Symlinking helps do that ... as does FreeBSD's mailer.conf (or redhat /
debian's /etc/alternatives/ directory).
