With one noted side effect: articles from the mailing list have
known good email addresses. That makes a newsgroup that is a
mailing list echo into a ideal location to harvest addresses.

And I'll add my additional need. Any echo of the mailing list
to a newsgroup will do so in such a way that email addresses cannot
be harvested, either from the headers or the body of the posting.
