might as well be openssl... several weeks ago i played getting eudora
(latest windows version at that time, 5.1 5.2 or something) and the
bat working with courier-pop-ssl (not with exim, yes ;), and after
much frustration i found several references in some well-hidden bat
mailinglist archive, that there are known problems with openssl 0.9.6g
(that's whay i've been trying with), particularly somewhere around the
key exchange stuff (thats the version where kex has changed a bit,
iirc).

however, i can't say much else about the problem. i gave up on it ;)
you might want to get some newer openssl and try with that... and
inform me as to whether it worked or not ;)
