Oggetto: [Exim] OpenLDAP v2 client vs. v1 server issue in Exim 4.12
Hello,

just tried to upgrade the test-bed box from 4.10 to 4.12, alas:
---
$ exim -v -bt chibi@???
chibi@??? cannot be resolved at this time:
[blah blah blah] gave DEFER: failed to bind the LDAP connection to server
ldapserver:389 - LDAP error 2: Protocol error
---

The LDAP server is still an OpenLDAP 1 box, while the client machine with
exim on it has OpenLDAP 2 libraries installed. All worked (and works)
fine with 4.10, did a fresh compile to prove that point even though I
knew neither LDAP runtime nor includes had been changed. ;)

I'm about to upgrade the systems here to 4.x and would like to use 4.12
for all the nifty additional ACLs, but changing the LDAP servers to v2
is not really an option at this point.

Any ideas which of the numerous LDAP updates in 4.11 brought on this
unfortunate change and how to get the 4.10 behavior back?

Regards,
