'Alternatives'? Do you mean the Red Hat 8 /etc/alternatives stuff? I
haven't looked at that really, because I haven't really played much with
8.0 yet (hence why it isn't in my spec :). I'd be interested to see a spec
modified to support it though, so please let us know if you create one.
And if you are working on one, I'd be happy to give it a go on an 8.0
non-production machine I've got.
(Incidentally, I imagine that anyone who needs to do this is probably more
than capable of adapting one of the existing spec files, but in case
anyone feels the need for an Exim 4.10/4.12 spec that incorporates Exiscan
and/or SA-Exim, let me know as I have one. Ditto for a slightly-updated
version of the spec for 4.12 in general - I built it the other day but
haven't put it on my site yet.)
Going off completely at a tangent, there are quite a few questions popping
up from time to time about "how do I block spam?"/"how do I do virus
scanning?". Do any of the less-experienced people using this group think
that a simple HOWTO which consolidates some of the available information
about this would be helpful? Assuming it hasn't been done already, I'm up
for doing a step-by-step "install Exim/SpamAssassin/SA-Exim/ClamAV/Exiscan
cleanly using RPMs" mini HOWTO. On the topic of which, Exiscan 4.12-x has
support for ClamAV, so anyone using RPMs might be interested in the
modified PLD ClamAV spec on my site, which works (for me) for Red Hat 7.3,
build as non-root.
