I see numerous *-D files left over in my ./spool/input directory.
Until recently I had no idea why these were being left behind because
the message-IDs of these *-D files were not in my logs.
Recent threads in this group suggest that the files get left behind
when/if local_scan bombs.
I presume exim is dying within my local_scan routine. I see 10 to 20
leftover files each day among the 1000's my server receives each day.
What method would be the most efficient to trace this problem on a
_live_ system?
