Subject: [Exim] Controlling .forward and .vacation.msg using email commands
How-do!

I'm wanting to allow users to control their "out of office" message using
email commands. At the moment I've set up an email account which, if email
is sent to it from a user's address, it automatically replies to that
address saying that the text given in the Subject line will be used as their
out of office message from that point on. To cancel the out of office, a
user just emails the same address with the word "CANCEL" in the Subject
line.

This works really well, but it isn't actually doing anything "behind the
scenes". I'd like to know whether it's possible for a filter running as a
particular user (eg. 'outofoffice') is able to write files to home
directories, plus set permissions etc.

At present I'm doing out of office messages manually for users on their
request, and they quite often forget to inform me when they return from
their holidays/breaks/dirty weekends away.

Can anyone help?

Tim.

PS. This is with Exim 3.33 by the way.
