of course I cannot check this as I am on your server (but you'll see
strange entry in your logs as I was doing some tests). I guess this
might be some mail loop check that is kicking in, I do not see why
are you doing a callout for mail generated locally..

this is a completely different chicken as this is coming from a remote server.

Another option is that you are rejecting empty sender address, and
this makes the callout fail. But in my remote check it seemed to be
fine (perhaps you are using another conf now?)
