Noted, but I think I would prefer
${stat:filename}
where the result is a sequence of x=y values that you can process with
extract.

... which is something that has been on the Wish List for quite some
time! Thanks for suggesting a possible way of doing it that is pretty
simple.
Of course, the stat will work only if the file is stattable by the exim
user.
