This looks like you're trying to deliver a BSD-format mailbox.

Please try my patch at
http://www.dcs.qmul.ac.uk/~mb/exim-patches/lmtp-socket.diff
..which will allow you to deliver to lmtpunix with a router like:
lmtp_socket:
driver = lmtp
socket = /var/lib/cyrus/socket/lmtp
