If you give us a bit more information, such as some history of these
messages (taken from the log or message log) it would be easier to help.
Also you can try forcing a delivery with -d and -M to watch what happens
to one of these messages. Oh, and tell us which release of Exim.

Indeed that shouldn't be keeping anything more than 2 days. So why is
