Just a note to everyone who uses exim & mysql.

For some reason, exim acts up when you upgrade mysql versions. It doesn't
seem to happen with php, perl (DBD::mysql), or auth-daemond (courier).

But I upgraded versions, logged into webmail (uses mysql) & everything.
Looked fine to me. I didn't get emails the entire weekend and found 4000
sitting in my spool dir.

What was happening was that exim was getting email fine, but the queue
runner was crashing (sig11) on every message. Anything that I change on a
regular basis is mysql (domains,email_addys,etc), so the weird thing (and
the actual question I have) is why would exim crash in a queue run like
that rather than all together (smtp-relay/local delivery also).

Is it the way exim is built compared to other apps (they seem to have no
other problems). Or should I probably be rebuilding php, courier-imap, etc
right now?

I have to admire Phillip's work on this. Not a single email was lost
(better late than never). I'm sure it's common sense to have a backup in a
case like this, but the mail server my ISP uses didn't seem to think so
(it's commercial obviously). Actually it was an smtp relay that did virus
scanning, but you get the idea.

Thanks
