You need to configure your Exim to read separate password files for each
domain. Those password files are used to determine (if you so elect) if
the recipient is valid. If you use a standard password file format, you
can use the same file for IMAP and POP.

The examples, I believe it's CO35, gives an excellent demonstration on
how to do this.
