Hmm. Maybe you got it wrong? It's Drweb who does virus detection as a daemon in
evaluation version.

I personally use it with my own local_scan() and it performs very well.

Also, scripted autoupdate feature in Drweb is done much cleaner than the binary-only
kaspersky's.
