Your previous MUA was clearly stamping on Exim's message. I was right
about it being clueless.
This has nothing to do with .forward files. It's to do with relaying,
not forwarding. Look at the Exim log. Post the message here if you don't
understand it.
You can also run debugging tests on the Exim system using -bh.
