pgp was born once, then it became a defacto standard. later, the whole
stuff was somewhat cleaned up, and standardized, which standard is
called openpgp. gpg is an implementation of this openpgp standard.
"pgp" and "gpg" are pretty much interchangeable abbreviations for the
same things, in most contexts. (also, "PGP" as such is a commercial
software, but usually if the reference is made to that specific piece
of software, that is noted explicitly, or one can guess it from the
context. thats how i found it so far, at least.)
