Onderwerp: [Exim] Exim 4.10: "Could not complete sender callout check" for domain w/o MX and unpingable A RR
Hi there,

I've got a strange problem where Exim fails the sender callout check and thus
defers delivery of the message:

sender verify defer for <<someone>@sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in>: Could not
    complete sender callout check

The sender domain doesn't have an MX host:

mx sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in
sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in MX record currently not present

So Exim is supposed to connect to the A RR -- however the host does NOT return
ICMP echo replies:

ping sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in
PING sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in (144.16.73.10): 56 data bytes

--- sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in ping statistics ---
17 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

BUT I could manually send mail to this host:

============================== 8x ================================
# telnet sagarika.aero.iisc.ernet.in 25

Even if I force redelivery by invoking "exim -M <id>" the same problem
reappears.

Does Exim have problems with the fact that the domain lacks an MX AND the A RR
can't be pinged?

Anyway, is there a way to "override" the sender callout, i.e. "don't verify
the sender but immediately deliver the message to the local recipient?" If
this is missing shouldn't this function be added for "hard cases?"

Thanks,

Ralf
