Well, during a period when we ignored the -oMr setting and used port nnnnn
on one of the loopback addresses instead to reinject, I (wrongly) dispaired
of using -bt and turned off our emergency test for wanting to scan, instead
(presence of a file in /var/run/.../). I think now that I could have done
the job with -oMsomething.

Meanwhile, we slipped the protocol back into the test as an alternative way
to reinject, so
    -oMr ... -bt ...
works here again.

[The "magic" switch file is there for emergency shutoff of scanning. Those
of us who watched "Phantasia" (several times in my case, once with the
reels out of order) want to be able to turn things off. ;-)]

It's still a wish here, but your point about writing traps for the unwary
or forgetful into the configuration file is well taken, so I won't be
disappointed if it doesn't make the official wish list.
