So where is this documented? I could assume data means during any data
transfer -- so timeout could be at any time (like at HELO).

(Anyways, the author already clarified this in this thread a couple days
ago.)

I guess I should have pointed out the ones that I understood to indicate
this. I am not sure how you can know what I read.

Your email came to me a few days after Philip's email. The author said
Exim has assigned a message ID at this stage.

You should have read the previous postings in this same thread
before replying. But I do appreciate your feedback.

I couldn't find that documented. (And as I noted in the earlier email, I
couldn't my log message documented either.)
