This was taken on the mail server itself.

I was told this was just happening to the ISP's DSL customers (and this
weeks logs show 2557 of these timeouts for that one network vs. only 172
timeouts from elsewhere). I am assuming that the network issue is
elsewhere since these timeouts are only for a small portion of mail
activity.

This is Red Hat Linux 7.2 and 2.4.7-10enterprise #1 SMP (only one
processor used) with exim-3.22-14.1 RPM. ifconfig and /proc/net/dev show
zero collisions and zero errors for the:

8139too Fast Ethernet driver 0.9.18a
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xe08f1e00, xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, IRQ 11
eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C'
eth0: Setting 100mbps full-duplex based on auto-negotiated partner ability 45e1.
