As has been mentioned "prefix = " is the way to handle this. This
disables the "From_" line (that is what is known as btw). From_ lines
definitely violate all sorts of message standards, but there are so many
misconfigured systems out there, that most software silently eats them.
Also, using maildir without "prefix = " is probably never a good idea.
From_ lines were initially used a message separators in original Unix mbox
files, as well as a way of storing the envelope sender. Now that we have
Return-Path headers, and mbox really isn't used, From_ lines really have
no place.
In fact, it would be nice if maildir POP servers ate the From_ line,
just like a mbox POP server would, to ensure that the POP client is given
a RFC822/2822 compliant message.
