Ok, so I figured part of it out -- the person before me added this to
the /etc/aliases file:

maria :fail: User does not exist

So, the error from Exim is that it doesn't like something about this
usage in the file -- looking at the docs here:

http://www.exim.org/exim-html-4.00/doc/html/spec_37.html#SECT37.11

makes it *seem* like everything is correct. But apparently it's not --
anyone have any suggestions?
