You did not compile exim with HAVE_IPV6=YES.

Philip - How about having exim IPv6 enabled by default? I mean what
harm does it do. Even if a site is not IPv6 ready yet, it should still
be able to lookup a IPv6 host/site.

Itojun - Hmm...maybe I should send you a private email, but from my
host - who is IPv6 ready, I still send mail to you on the IPv4
interface. I wonder why?

root@satan-> exim -bt itojun@???
itojun@???
  deliver to itojun@???
    router = lookuphost, transport = remote_smtp
    host sh1.iijlab.net [3ffe:507:0:1:260:97ff:fe07:69ea]   MX=10
    host sh1.iijlab.net [202.232.15.98]                     MX=10
    host sh1.iijlab.net [2001:240:0:200:260:97ff:fe07:69ea] MX=10

But the mail -

Apr 18 09:29:56 satan exim[23577]: 2002-04-18 09:29:56
16yEkP-00062P-00 => itojun@??? R=lookuphost T=remote_smtp
H=sh1.iijlab.net [202.232.15.98]

However, IPv6'd site delivery to my other hosts [leviathan.lucifer.at] works..

Rgds,
