Philip,

It was with the exim distribution that comes with progeny debian! i dont
know how out of date it is, but obviously it would seem errored!

nevermind, i have all the help that i need with the mailing list.

Oops. I pushed the "send" button too quickly there. I've noticed
something that *I* got wrong too...

That should read "to *enable* filtering"...


Wait a minute! That text isn't in the standard Exim distribution. It is
NOT my fault after all. The distribution file says this:

# This director handles forwarding using traditional .forward files.
# If you want it also to allow mail filtering when a forward file
# starts with the string "# Exim filter", uncomment the "filter" option.

So the fault is Debian's.
