題目: [Exim] Exim external, Exchange internal
Hi

Sadly, the powers that be have decided that our office needs an exchange server. Our
Linux-based Exim MTA is located outside of our firewall and will direct any mail that
cannot be delvered locally to the exchange box on the internal network (using
portforwarding on the firewall.)

I have taken a look at the FAQ's and have tried out the suggestions in Q/A 0403.

---------------
A0403: At the end of the directors section of the configuration, insert the following
director:

         unknown:
           driver = smartuser
           transport = unknown_transport

If you don't want MX processing, set the "gethostbyname" option:

         unknown_transport:
           driver = smtp
           hosts = server.host.name
           gethostbyname
---------------

As people get their accounts setup on the exchange box, we'll remove the /etc/passwd
entries and spool files for those users on the external MTA and their mail should get
directed to the exchange box.

Initially, for test purposes, I had "unknown" mails directed to my own desktop machine
(linux+exim) and all seems well (basically, I just got all the spam that could not be
delivered because the local_part was nonexistent.

What I would like to know now is whether there are any pitfalls I should watch out for -
mail loops, etc. Also, is there anything I should ensure that the exchange admin does or
does not do (for instance, with emails that exchange cannot deliver.)

Thanks,
Ryan
