It has by default a value of '*', so you shouldn't need to set it unless you
are trying to exclude hosts from seeing the AUTH capability.

1) Enable the option in the Makefile (which you've done I gather);
2) Create the authenticators in the configure file (which I gather you have
also done).
3) Restart exim.
