More like a strict division of services. Server A does SMTP, Server B
does POP3, Server C does IMAP or webmail, you get the idea. At some
point expand it to multiple servers for each task.

Trying to avoid NFS. I know you can do great things with NetApps,
but you still take a performance hit, and in my experience, NFS
locking isnt very reliable (quick fix to that would be Maildir
spools, I guess).
