That's not an error. It's just saying that a debug string was too long.
In fact, somebody else was worried by this recently; in the latest
release I've changed the message to "**** debug string too long -
truncated ****" which is the real meaning.

Which release of Exim?
Did you compile it yourself?
Have you set
LDAP_LIB_TYPE=OPENLDAP2
in your Local/Makefile? (You seem to be running OPENLDAP2).
