I should see what exim_dumpdb shows on my system. Ever since I moved
to exim4 I've been seeing this in my log files :
2002-03-26 18:11:11 16piyF-0006OL-00 failed to open DB file /var/spool/exim/db/retry: File exists
2002-03-26 18:20:33 16q1AX-00020S-00 failed to open DB file /var/spool/exim/db/wait-remote_smtp: File exists
I didn't do an exactly kosher install, though. I simply put the
exim4 in place of the exim3 one (keeping a backup copy). Does exim
use any of the other binaries during its normal execution? I didn't
install any of the other exim4 binaries because I haven't used them.
Also, exim works fine (as far as I can tell ...) in spite of those
messages in the log file.
Hmm, if I use the 4.01 exim_dumpdb, it says (abbreviated)
"Failed: Success". If I use the 3.34 one I get an outdated list of
entries from the retry db.
I'll install the other binaries now and see what happens :-). Should
I remove the existing db files or is there a command I should use to
fix them?
TIA,
