Hi!

I've some problems with exim on Debian stable, primarily on m68k.
arrakis (m68k): exim 3.12-10.2
atreides (x86, smarthost): exim 3.34-1

sending exim tells:

delivering 16hzqa-0003Q5-00 to atreides.localnet [192.168.1.6]
(usihkgrzs@???)
set_process_info: 686 3.12 delivering 16hzqa-0003Q5-00 to
atreides.localnet [192.168.1.6] (usihkgrzs@???)
Connecting to atreides.localnet [192.168.1.6] ... connected
SMTP<< 220 atreides ESMTP Exim 3.34 #1 Tue, 05 Mar 2002 00:04:17 +0100

SMTP<< 250 <usihkgrzs@???> is syntactically correct
SMTP>> DATA

SMTP<< 354 Enter message, ending with "." on a line by itself
SMTP>> writing message and terminating "."

writing data block size=2330 timeout=300

on the other side (smarthost):

2002-03-04 23:59:15 SMTP data timeout (message abandoned) on connection from
(ax.westfalen.de) [192.168.1.4]
2002-03-05 00:04:16 SMTP data timeout (message abandoned) on connection from
(ax.westfalen.de) [192.168.1.4]

I've tried to lower MTU as supposed in the ml archives, but with no
differing result.

Here is a strace -f snippet:

[pid 842] write(2, " SMTP>> writing message and ter"..., 45 SMTP>>
writing message and terminating "."
) = 45
[pid 842] lseek(6, 19, SEEK_SET) = 19
[pid 842] read(6, "dupload exit status 255/0\n\nCompl"..., 8192) = 2018
[pid 842] read(6, "", 8192) = 0
[pid 842] write(2, "writing data block size=2633 tim"..., 41writing data
block size=2633 timeout=300
) = 41
[pid 842] alarm(300) = 0
[pid 842] write(9, "Received: from schmitz by ax.wes"..., 2633) = 2633
[pid 842] alarm(0) = 300
[pid 842] rt_sigaction(SIGALRM, {SIG_IGN}, {0x80010628, [], 0}, 8) = 0
[pid   842] select(10, [9], NULL, NULL, {600, 0}

... and on that point it keeps hanging for the timeout.

I have absolutely no idea anymore where to look or what to do.... and there
a some hundreds of mails waiting to send (mostly autobuilder logfiles for
the Debian project)...
