I think I've waited long enough. It is time for more of the world to
start finding the bugs in Exim 4. :-) I have just put Exim 4.00 onto the
ftp site:

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-4.00.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-4.00.tar.bz2

6c1240e5a021e9e5ede6aa944845bdd5 exim-4.00.tar.gz
4dcd226632b794a03f14bc990e350ce3 exim-4.00.tar.bz2

The documentation has been updated since the first testing release.
Please update your copy if you have been using that version. The
non-ASCII versions are in

ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-html-4.00.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-pdf-4.00.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-postscript-4.00.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/exim4/exim-texinfo-4.00.tar.gz

The HTML version is now made directly from the master source, without
going via Texinfo. The layout is better as a result, and also all the
cross-references are now hyperlinked. A snapshot of the FAQ is included
in the HTML directory. It now comes with a "keyword-in-context" index,
which should make it easier to search. There is an "index.html" file in
the doc/html directory that links to the spec, the filter document, and
the FAQ.

Upgrading from Exim 3 to Exim 4 requires big changes to your
configuration file. There is a Perl script that can help with this.
Start by reading the doc/Exim4.upgrade file.

Enjoy.
