[Exim] Socket operation on non-socket - Exim 3.34 on Debian

I have been getting the following error messages in the paniclog file
of Exim 3.34 on Debian 3.0 (Woody)

2002-02-19 14:11:21 16dArI-0004Tq-00 failed to get IP address of
stdin when socket passed from previous delivery: Socket operation on
non-socket

The operating system is Linux 2.4.17 on an Intel platform.

I am also running Exim 3.33 on a different Debian 3.0 box, and I do
not get this error message.

Both versions of Exim are from the Debian Woody distribution.

If anybody needs more data or has suggestions on how to get around
this error, please let me know.
