[Exim] Bug in Exim 3.34?

I have just set up a new FreeBSD 4.4-Release machine and installed
Exim-Mysql 3.34

I had configured newsyslog.conf to rotate the mainlog and paniclog with
the wrong username, so at midnight when it rolled things over, exim could
no longer access the logs:

Cannot open main log file "/var/log/exim/mainlog": Permission denied

Fortunately, this machine isn't fully functional just yet, so this morning
when I checked for mail I noticed I had none. SSH to the box and go
'uh-oh!'

Fixed the ownership of the logs, corrected newsyslog.conf

The only mail I missed was athe two daily security reports. They are
completely lost. I would have 'guesses' Exmim would have queued them
instead of dropping them? That's the 'bug' I just wanted to pass along, if
indeed it is a bug.

The problem existed for about 9 and half hours if the time frame helps.
