You're not using the FreeBSD package, are you? The FreeBSD port and
package currently have a problem in that they're not built with a
compile-time default for exim_user.

If this is your problem, either build Exim with values set for EXIM_USER
and EXIM_GROUP in the Makefile generated from EDITME, or wait a few days
for the new port, which will rely on the newly added mailnull user.

If you're building Exim yourself, the advice above still helps. :-)
