Assunto: [Exim] yet another *bl list
i referenced this obliquely when asking for help on diagnosing
rbl_domains problems, i guess i should make an announcement

the kbl is now up and running. the kbl is an idiosyncratic bl which
mostly is about spam or other unwanted email that arrives at my
server, krusty-motorsports.com (hence the krusty bl, or kbl.) i don't
take external nominations; i am not MAPS, nor do i have any interest
in trying to be a new MAPS.

it's not a relay or a dialup oriented service, but mostly focuses on
spammers with fixed, known addresses (e.g., monsterhut,
funneymoney.com, grouplotto, etc.) occasionally a relay or an apparent
hijacked server will get on the list, though, if i think it will cut
down on incoming spam. other things might be there too; for example,
exactis is on for the specific reason that they sued MAPS, and there
are a couple of acquaintence spammers on there (such as the M$
Bcentral/listbuilder folks, who have been spamming old LinkExchange
customers for a while -- it's ok because they bought LinkExchange,
apparently.)

the current "membership" of the kbl may be viewed at

http://www.krusty-motorsports.com/blocked-by-ip.html

since i decided to make it available, i've been improving the
documentation standard, but there are still quite a few entries with
no publically visible information. i make no apologies, but will
endeavor to improve the situation as time permits.

if you want to use it, the following applies:

1) if you have a high volume mail server, i suggest zone transfers and
beating up on your own DNS servers, please.

2) please drop me an email, as i may want to set up a kbl-users
mailing list so i can keep users informed of events.

3) the zone is kbl.krusty-motorsports.com, use it in rbl_domains in
the canonical way

4) i recommend using it in conjunction with a relays list like
relays.visi.com and a dialup list like dialups.relays.osirusoft.com; i
also use spamhaus.relays.osirusoft.com because i think steve linford
documents things well at www.spamhaus.org

5) remember, no nominations, please.
