Umm, I assume you mean getservbyname ? That is nothing to do with bind,
that tends to be a standard C library function call (although on
Solaris it is a 'sockets' function call).
All Cygwin does is take advantage of the POSIX layer in NT as far as
I am aware. It doesn't do anything particularly clever with things
like filesystem semantics.
