ok, i found it. the dns lookup on kbl.krusty-motorsports.com itself is
hosed. since i was explicitly specifying @kbl.krusty-motorsports.com
in the dig, i didn't see that there was an underlying dns problem to
be resolved. i need to put in the missing delegation of the kbl zone
from krusty-motorsports.com to make this work right.

nothing at all to do with exim.
