Asunto: [Exim] delay for connecting to smtp port for mail delivery
Hi guys ( and gals)

I have installed exim and qpopper onto a small server for a small number of people ( 5 tops)

This machine is a dial on demand box and uses ETRN for retreival of mail from an ISP spooler-server, this all works wonderfully.

However, when our server is offline, the users experience an odd delay when connecting to the SMTP port but not the POP3 port. (i'm sure that the
timeout exists while the box is online too).

Is there any way in that i can force exim not to do a lookup on the user that connects to the box ? as this i think is what the issue is. I have all
the machines which connect to the server in the hosts file, but to no avail.

Regards
John
